This training gives you the tools to create and verify PDF documents that are accessible to everyone, without purchasing expensive software.
You will learn what an accessible PDF means and how to produce structured, correctly tagged PDF documents using tools you already have – and how to use the RAPDF reference framework and the EN 301 549 european norm.
You will also learn how to check the accessibility of your documents using PAC – PDF Accessibility Checker, a free automated validation tool. And above all, you will have a memorable experience: you will read your own documents the way a blind person does, using a screen reader. A hands-on and often eye-opening way to understand what accessibility really changes for those who depend on it every day.
This training focuses on simple PDF documents created from word processing software such as Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer. It does not cover complex PDFs produced with professional layout software such as Adobe InDesign.
The training is aimed at communications officers and anyone who produces or publishes documents online within their organisation. The training Digital Accessibility for Your Organisation is recommended as a prerequisite.
